Does The Low Carb Diet Work?

I’m sure you’ve heard of it before. It’s been around for quite some time, but still people ask me “Does the low carb diet work?”.

Today I’m going to talk about nutrition and balance.

Any workout routine should go hand in hand with good nutrition and a balanced diet, so the question of low carb diets is one that should be addressed here.

So Does The Low Carb Diet Work?

[box] Short answer: Yes, low carb diets can work

Long answer: It’s not as simple as that. [/box]

Just like the belief that calorie counting works, it is not always that simple.

Yes, if you reduce your calories you can lose weight, and yes if you avoid too many carbs you can lose weight. But, you should never starve your body of things that it needs, and your body needs carbs.

Where Does The Concept Come From?

If you’ve ever tried dieting or weight loss before, reducing your carbohydrates was probably the first thing you did. You are not alone in this.

The common school of thought is that carbs are generally bad and the cause of weight gain from insulin turning excess blood sugar (Caused by carbs) into fat.

While this does happen if you eat a diet based mostly on carbs, it does not mean all carbs are evil and should be avoided.

In fact, if you want to build lean muscle and tone up, you will need carbs just like you will need protein (though in smaller amounts).

So..a low carb diet is not a bad thing, but make sure you are not fearing carbs. To get a better idea of what I mean, read this article from the bestselling creator of “burn the fat, feed the muscle” and see what he has to say on the matter.

What Is The Ideal Fat Loss Diet?

burn-the-fatI’m glad you asked. Again, I am going to refer you to because they are the experts.

This best-selling fat loss diet has worked for many, many people, both men and women. I will briefly talk you through their methods now, but you would be wise to follow the links and read the article if you want to really understand low carb diets.

There are several phases of fat loss, and if you follow them correctly, your body will drop fat like crazy, and you will:

No longer be asking yourself “Does The Low Carb Diet Work?”

But will instead be asking yourself “Where can I buy a new dress?”

Here is a quick overview of the phases.

Phase I: Nutrition In this phase, basic nutrition is followed for fat-loss. Carbs are not usually restricted but are chosen carefully.

Phrase II: Maximized Fat Loss Here the focus should be Calories not Carbs. So the focus is on amking sure you are burning more than you are using.

Phase III: The “Contest” Diet Have you ever lost weight before then the weight loss suddenly slowed down or reached a plateau? This is because your body got used to the new conditions and the effectiveness was reduced. In this stage of the ideal diet, there is a further calorie reduction to really spruce up the diet.

It is much more important to focus on nutrition and calories.
